I actually have VC2 right now, excited to try it out after the first game. Also disappointed that VC3 never saw an English release, but there's supposedly a fan translation happening.
Is it possible to play this game in Japanese? I poked around in the menus and even though there's a language option I can't seem to move it from English. Even still, the voices have been good.
I also liked the game's connectivity with the arcade game. That's a good idea, although somewhat less so when the machines are near-impossible to find. I actually played one a couple times up here, but I'm fairly sure it's gone now. Can't remember if there were any left at the Illinois Gameworks or not...
Ok, so this has been gathering dust in my PS3 drawer for a couple of years now. I don't know why I bought it, perhaps due to the fact that I really enjoyed the Battalion Wars games on GAMECUBE/Wii and this felt like it was something similar. Yet, like many games I bought, I never even put it in the machine. Thanks to this review, it will be moving up my list to the "may actually play someday" category. :) Thanks!
It's probably my favorite PS3 title. So upset that they switched to PSP for 2 and 3 never came out in NA.
2 has innovated a lot of the battle, and had a lot more content to offer and rewards you for playing with the stock characters, but ultimately #1 is the best in every other way. I just love the story and the cast and the voice acting. It's a remarkable game. I wish it had been more popular in NA.
This temple run is one of the most interesting game that i have on my phone. IAfter getting with Disney i am planning to get this game on my upcmong iPhone 5
Thanks, I'll probably return to the game in a few months once I've waded through the rest of my PS3 backlog. I'd really love to know how the series plays out.
I love the beginning scenarios of the game. The train climb, the heist, the jungle shootout...it all blew me away. But the museum stealth was a huge pain, yes. Thank goodness there are no other stealth sections in the game.
I've managed to get through most of Story Mode and finished first in the three default Grand Prix cups on Novice and Standard. The fourth GP Cup has some rough tracks for sure. Looking at all the unlockables on GameFAQs, I think I'll be satisfied with myself if I can finish Story Mode and that fourth GP cup...
As is, I don't think the game would benefit from a bean limit or having to escort Blob. Bean placement is crucial, to the point where you may have to toss the same bean three or four times before getting it pixel perfect. And Blob is a bit dumb, so having to worry for his safety in addition to making sure he follows would be among the worst escort missions.
The later levels are pretty satisfying. A good combo of head-scratchers and decent platforming challenges. If Blob didn't need so much hand-holding, it would be a top notch puzzle platformer.
This is a rare example of a game that is completely betrayed by its first hour. The story doesn't really get interesting until Act II, once they're done with the setup. The later parts of the game are just as cutscene-heavy (the final cutscene is two hours), but the cutscenes are better, the level design is better, and the gameplay chunks between cutscenes are longer... no more crawling for ten seconds only to immediately go back to the unplayable.
That being said, this game really isn't for everybody. The story is extremely complicated and requires a pretty thorough knowledge of the previous three games to fully understand it, new gameplay features frequently make it too easy, and it's easily the most cutscene-intensive game I've ever played. It kinda suffers from Kingdom Hearts 2 syndrome.
I can also shed a little light on what was with that weird gameshow thing: it was hiding another install screen. They put a bunch of weird videos in (you can flip through a few different "channels" at this point in the game and watch a few different things, including a truly bizarre interview with David Hayter), just so the user would have SOMETHING to do to make the ridiculous install times less grating. I think they were trying to give an impression of what TV is like in the future, but it's just too strange to really work.
We appreciate the energy, but the score here is only based on the first hour of the game. And it was extremely slow and dull. The full game is much better.
I wonder if limiting the number of jelly beans you have would have made it more puzzle-y. Maybe having to worry about the safety of the blob a little more would increase the challenge (or frustration).
What do you mean this game got a 2? It's full of awesome! No complaining, this game has ART DIRECTION of awesomeness, and you can be unnecessarily epic at times too!
Not yet, though I do own it. Some day.
Have, you played P4 yet? It has addressed a good number of things that made my P3 experience, and judging from your article, your experience, hell.

I once owned Battalion Wars... for about ten minutes, long story.
Anyways, it does feel like it could be a 3D version of Advance Wars. Play it! I'm really enjoying it.
Certainly feels like it's got parts of Advance Wars and Fire Emblem to it, there's perma-death for characters too.

to each its own :B
I saw some game play videos of this before. Seems like something an Advance Wars fan, such as myself, would enjoy. Perhaps I'll pick it up.

I love this game so much.

This game sounds crazy.

A friend is one before whom I may think aloud.
It is not enough to aim; you must hit.
I believe this is the PSP version only, I was playing the PS2 version.

are you dumb? you can control all the characters fighting just go to tactics and put manual control .

Pretty amazing game and yeah, the difficulty goes a bit nuts.
